Bastian Schweinsteiger has issued a Manchester United rallying cry ahead of Sunday’s derby at Manchester City.

The Red Devils make the short trip to the Etihad Stadium as Louis van Gaal’s side look to return to winning ways after their Europa League disappointment on Thursday night.

United drew 1-1 with Liverpool after Philippe Coutinho cancelled out Anthony Martial’s opener to secure a 3-1 aggregate win for the visitors at Old Trafford.

City, on the other hand, set up a quarter-final meeting with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League after a goalless draw at The Etihad sealed a 3-1 aggregate victory over Dynamo Kyiv.

Schweinsteiger, who has recently returned from a knee injury, posted a message for his United team-mates ahead of Sunday’s game.

Schweinsteiger wrote: “It’s derby time! #mufc”
