The Belgium international hasn’t featured for Mauricio Pochettino’s side since he injured his knee in January’s 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Vertonghen hasn’t featured in Marc Wilmots’s Belgium squad during the international break as the 27-year-old continues to work on his rehabilitation at the north London club.
But the former Ajax defender found time in his busy schedule to meet some of America’s next big football stars at Hotspur Way earlier this week.
Vertonghen posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote: “Good to meet young players from America training @SpursOfficial this week.”
The Belgian star formed a key partnership with fellow centre-half and compatriot Toby Alderweireld before his unfortunate knee injury at Palace.
Vertonghen was thought to be in contention for a return to Pochettino’s match-day squad for Saturday evening’s trip to Liverpool at Anfield.
