Ray Parlour says Petr Cech's injury is a huge blow for Arsenal ahead of Saturday's north London derby

Ray Parlour says he fears for Arsenal at White Hart Lane on Saturday after Petr Cech’s injury blow.

The Czech Republic international picked up a groin problem as the 33-year-old goalkeeper ventured up field in the closing moments of Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Swansea City at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

Speaking after the shock defeat by the Premier League strugglers in north London, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed Cech would miss their trip to White Hart Lane in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour underlined what a huge blow Cech’s absence with be for the Gunners in the north London derby.

“Cech is injured for the weekend which is a huge blow,” Parlour told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.

“He has been superb this year. He has for the Spurs game. I fear for the Arsenal.”

Cech moved to Arsenal in an £11m deal from defending Premier League champions Chelsea in the summer.

Arsenal are three points behind second-placed Tottenham, while Mauricio Pochettino’s side are trailing leading Leicester by the same points margin.

Spurs secured a 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the north London derby at The Emirates earlier this season after Kieran Gibbs cancelled out Harry Kane’s opener.
