Daniel Sturridge can make the difference when Liverpool host Manchester United on Thursday night, according to Rob Jones.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds side host their bitter rivals in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash at Anfield on Thursday night.

He gives us something different

Liverpool haven’t beaten Louis van Gaal’s outfit since 2014, although Sturridge has missed three of the last four meetings through injury.

The England striker has scored twice in five games against United since his £12m move to Merseyside from Chelsea in 2013.

Former Liverpool defender Jones believes Sturridge has the quality to find a way past Van Gaal’s defence and give the Reds a first-leg advantage ahead of the return trip to Old Trafford next week.

“No-one can go hiding. All XI players have to perform,” Jones told The Sport Review.

“You can’t have two or three players not performing.

“Sturridge can be deadly around the box. He has been excellent and he has given us more options. He gives us something different.”
