The Reds have a nine-point deficit to overturn to catch the Gunners in the race to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League competition.
Liverpool gained two points on Arsene Wenger’s side over the weekend after the Reds were 2-1 winners at Crystal Palace on Sunday following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s north London derby.
The Gunners have seen their Premier League title challenge falter in recent weeks after a three-game winless run in the English top flight.
Unsurprisingly, former Spurs defender Carr is hoping that Arsenal will finish their season with a whimper and finish outside the top four for the first time since in 18 years.
“Leicester, Man City, Tottenham… Liverpool,” Carr told Golden Boot TV.
Asked why he believes Arsenal won’t finish in the top four, Carr replied: “It’s more hope.”
Arsenal are in action against Hull City in their FA Cup fifth-round replay at KC Stadium on Tuesday night.
Liverpool host Manchester United in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash on Thursday night.
