Thierry Henry has told Manchester United fans not to get carried away by Marcus Rashford’s rise to prominence under Louis van Gaal this season.

The 18-year-old striker has been a regular fixture in the United first team in recent weeks and announced himself to the Old Trafford faithful with four goals in two games last month.

Rashford has been featuring for the Red Devils in the absence of injured United captain Wayne Rooney, who is currently sidelined with a knee problem.

The teenager’s run in the first team has prompted some to suggest that the youngster could be included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for this summer’s European championships in France.

However, former Arsenal striker Henry says it is far too early to be think about that and says Rashford must be given time to adapt at United and prove himself.

Writing in his column for The Sun, Henry said: “I agree with head of academy Nicky Butt that it is far too early for people to dream about Rashford going to the Euros with England in June.
