Thierry Henry says that he “loves” Mauricio Pochettino’s down to earth comments about his Tottenham Hotspur team in the wake of their Europa League exit on Thursday night.

The north London side were dumped out of Europe’s second tier club competition after a 2-1 defeat by the Bundesliga side at White Hart Lane on Thursday night.

Tottenham are aiming to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League this term as they continue to challenge for the Premier League title.

Pochettino admitted that his side were outclassed by Dortmund as they suffered a 5-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of the German side.

The Spurs boss also admitted that the north London outfit will have to up their game against Europe’s top clubs if they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

And Arsenal legend Henry was impressed by Pochettino’s humble comments after his side’s European exit.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning, Henry said: “I like the fact that he’s said we need to improve in order to compete in the Champions League next year.

“He’s aware the team is maybe not at that level. I love that about him.”
