Michael Owen is backing West Ham United to hold Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 draw and halt their title challenge in Wednesday’s clash at Upton Park.

Spurs have been one of the top-flight’s most consistent teams in recent weeks and underlined their status as genuine contenders for the title by coming from a goal down to beat Swansea City 2-1 on Sunday.

The Lilywhites are currently second in the table and two points behind leaders Leicester heading into this week’s round of fixtures.

However, former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen is tipping the Hammers to frustrate Mauricio Pochettino’s men and claim a point at Upton Park on Wednesday night.

Writing in his column for Bet Victor, Owen said: “A fabulous game in prospect at the Boleyn Ground and we will know more about Spurs and their title credentials by the end of the week given they also entertain Arsenal on Saturday live on BT Sport.

“A feisty Cup-tie like atmosphere is assured and I am finding it hard to split the sides.”
