Gary Lineker has taken to social media to issue his backing for Jose Mourinho after he was finally confirmed as Manchester United’s new manager on Friday morning.

The Portuguese coach was finally officially unveiled as the club’s new manager after days of talks and speculation linking him with the job.

Mourinho has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Red Devils after days of speculation linking him with the vacant Old Trafford job.

United have been searching for a new manager since they opted to sack Louis van Gaal on Monday afternoon following the club’s fifth-placed finish in the Premier League and FA Cup triumph.

And Lineker clearly feels that the appointment will help to take Manchester United back towards the top of English football next season.

Lineker tweeted after the news:
