Granit Xhaka say it is a dream to become an Arsenal player following his £33m transfer last week.

The 23-year-old midfielder signed a long-term deal with the Gunners after the north London side agreed a big-money fee with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.

Xhaka is Arsene Wenger’s first signing of the summer transfer window ahead of the final year of the manager’s current Arsenal contract.

The new Gunners signing was unable to help the north London outfit avoid a 2-1 defeat by Euro 2016 favourites Belgium on Saturday night.

However, Xhaka was feeling upbeat about his club future as he reflected on his £33m switch to the three-time Premier League winners.

“I feel good, now I’m happy to be a Gunner,” Xhaka told Sky Sports News HQ.

“It’s been a big week for me but now it’s official and I’m very happy. Arsenal is a big club. I’ve seen the pitch, it’s unbelievable. It was a dream for me and I’m happy now.”

Switzerland international Xhaka has scored three and has made two assists in 37 Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach.
