Ray Wilkins says Jose Mourinho will lead Manchester United to at least one trophy in his first two years at the club

Ray Wilkins believes that Jose Mourinho will lead Manchester United to at least one trophy in his first two seasons at Manchester United.

Mourinho is set to take charge at Old Trafford after the Red Devils opted to sack Louis van Gaal on Monday afternoon.

The Portuguese coach’s men task will be to guide Manchester United back into the top four and assemble a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

And Chelsea legend Wilkins is tipping Mourinho to be a big hit at Old Trafford as he prepares for an imminent return to the managing in the Premier League.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday afternoon, Wilkins said: “I think it is the right move. It is the only move for them. He will get them playing again and he will get them winning again.

“He is a winner, there is no two ways about it. When he goes to a club, normally he wins a big trophy within the first couple of years.”

The former Real Madrid boss’ future has been a relentless source of speculation since his sacking by Chelsea back in December.
