After a goalless first half at Stamford Bridge, goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa handed the Blues the three points and gave Conte a winning start to life in the Premier League with Chelsea.
The Italian was appointed as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor at Stamford Bridge back in April and officially took charge in west London after his involvement in Euro 2016 with Italy.
Conte passionately celebrated Chelsea’s late winner against the Hammers at Stamford Bridge on Monday night as the Blues began the campaign with three points.
And the former Juventus head coach revealed his delight with how his first game in charge in the Premier League unfolded.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at on Monday night, Conte said: “It was fantastic and I have to say thanks to the Chelsea fans because the welcome was fantastic.
“To see the Italian flag in the stand I had a bit of emotion, especially because my wife and daughter were here.
“I hope through our work we can repay the welcome.”
Conte is now preparing his Chelsea side for their trip to Watford in the Premier League this weekend.
