Gary Lineker believes Diego Costa was fortunate to avoid a sending off after the striker scored Chelsea’s winner in a 2-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

The Spain international managed to escape without a red card despite a controversial performance in the west London side’s 2-1 victory over West Ham United in their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

Costa proved to be Chelsea’s match winner again on Saturday evening as the former Atletico Madrid man turned Cesc Fabregas’s cross into the Watford net to seal consecutive Premier League victories for Antonio Conte’s side.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Lineker couldn’t resist taking to Twitter to have his say on Costa’s controversial performance.

Costa moved to Chelsea in a £32m deal from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in 2014 before he helped the Blues win the Premier League title in 2015.
