The France international made his first appearance for the Red Devils following his world-record £92m transfer to Old Trafford last week.
Pogba’s second United debut was overshadowed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s goal-scoring exploits as the Swedish legend broke the deadlock with a header before the centre-forward scored a second from the penalty spot.
But former Liverpool defender Carragher heaped praise on the French midfielder as the Champions League winner talked up Pogba’s all-round game in Friday night’s 2-0 win against Southampton.
“He was strong and powerful and dominating the game. It wasn’t a case of him using strength and stamina. He wasn’t quite up to speed fitness wise. He was all over the pitch,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“He was like an old fashioned midfield player. He covered every blade of grass. The only way to describe his performance was like he was the best kid in the school ground. He just went all over the place doing what he wanted.”
Pogba moved to Juventus from United in an £800,000 deal in 2012 after the midfielder failed to establish himself at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The French midfielder won four successive Serie A titles as well as finished as a Champions League runner-up during a four-year stay in Turin.
The Red Devils are three points clear of second-placed Liverpool ahead of their next trip to Hull City.
