The Ivory Coast defender made his United debut in a 2-1 victory over Premier League champions Leicester City in the Community Shield final at Wembley.
Bailly made his first Premier League appearance at Vitality Stadium last weekend as United were 3-1 winners against Bournemouth.
While Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the visitors’s goals, Bailly was named the man of the match following a composed performance at the back.
And United manager Mourinho was quick to heap praise on the African defender following his impact at Old Trafford.
“He is a young boy playing in a completely different competition with a different club, but despite all the pressure and expectation that comes with playing for United, he plays against Leicester at Wembley and is comfortable, leading and communicative,” Mourinho told his pre-match media conference at Carrington on Friday afternoon.
United signed Bailly in a £30m deal from La Liga outfit Villarreal in June as he became the first signing of the Mourinho era.
The Red Devils are at the top of the Premier League table ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea following the opening weekend of the season.
Mourinho’s men will host Southampton at Old Trafford in their next Premier League fixture.
