Calciomercato.com – as quoted by The Daily Express – are claiming that the Reds Devils boss met up with the Italy international at the request of the striker in an attempt to help the 25-year-old get his career back on track after a difficult few years.
Balotelli is currently out-of-favour under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after the Italian returned to Anfield following a season-long loan at AC Milan last season.
The former Manchester City striker scored one goal in 20 Serie A appearances for the Rossaneri before he was sent back to the 18-time English champions this summer.
The Liverpool outcast was overlooked for Antonio Conte’s Italy squad for this summer’s European championship as the Azzurri reached the quarter-finals in the tournament in France.
Balotelli moved to the Reds in a £16m deal from Serie A giants Milan in 2014 under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
The Reds currently have plenty of depth up front with Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, Christian Benteke and Balotelli vying for a first-team spot.
