The Gunners have been linked with a host of Europe’s top players throughout the summer transfer window but the north London side have only signed Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding so far.
The pressure on Wenger has already been building after Sunday’s 4-3 defeat by Liverpool in their Premier League opener.
Wenger is facing increasing pressure from his own supporters to splash the cash and bring in a top striker before the close of the transfer window.
Olivier Giroud is back in training and working on his fitness levels after his extended summer holiday following his involvement in Euro 2016.
And despite singling Giroud out for special praise, former Arsenal defender Keown still feels that the Gunners are likely to bring in a new forward before the end of the month.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Star, Keown said: “I think Giroud’s stock grew in the Euros, he was one of the best strikers.
“But Giroud is following in the footsteps of some very good Arsenal players… Robin van Persie, Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and the fans want to see a striker like them.
“These days you need electric pace, power and goalscoring abilities and Giroud is a different type of striker.
“I do believe that Wenger will make a signing in that area before the window closes.”
