The Red Devils completed a world-record £92m deal for the France midfielder last week as Pogba became the fourth of Jose Mourinho’s summer signings.
Pogba won four successive Serie A titles during a four-year stay in Turin after Sir Alex Ferguson permitted his £800,000 sale to Juventus in 2012.
The 23-year-old scored eight times and made 12 assists in 35 Serie A appearances for the Italian champions last season.
However, Southampton legend and Sky Sports pundit Le Tissier doesn’t believe the Saints will be overawed by the prospect of facing Pogba.
“I don’t think Pogba’s name on the team sheet will strike fear into the Southampton players and I wouldn’t expect him to be at the races straight away,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports.
“After a long Euros and then the protracted transfer saga, which means he was unable to get a full pre-season under his belt, I think it will be a case of him improving as the season goes on.
“I wouldn’t expect him to come in and score double figures in his first season in the Premier League. He didn’t manage that in a very good Juventus team so I can’t see it happening in a much tougher league.”
United were 3-1 winners in their opening Premier League game of the season at Bournemouth last weekend.
However, Pogba was suspended for the clash on the south coast as he served a ban carried over from Serie A.
The Red Devils are currently top of the Premier League table ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea.
