The French midfielder became the Blues’ second signing of the summer transfer window after he opted to quit Leicester City and move to Stamford Bridge.
Kante is Chelsea’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of Michy Batshuayi following Conte’s appointment at the west London club.
The midfielder made his first Premier League appearance for the Blues as he helped Chelsea to secure a 2-1 victory over West Ham United in their first game of the season on Monday night.
And Kante has lifted the lid on how he made the difficult decision to leave the King Power Stadium and opt to join the Blues, who finished 10th in the Premier League last season.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s magazine, Kante said: “It was a little bit difficult because what we did last year with Leicester was a very, very big achievement. But now it’s a new step for me and I hope good things will come.
“I chose Chelsea because I spoke with the manager here and when I did that, I realised the capacity of the manager and that is why I made my decision. Now I have discovered him, and discovered how he is training, how he is, and what I can say is he is passionate and a hard worker. He likes to communicate, to make me understand his idea of football here.
“He said he knows how I play and he thinks I can be a good player for his team and that’s why I’ve come here. And, of course, I like Premier League football and that is why I decided to stay in this league.”
Kante and his Chelsea team-mates are now gearing up for their Premier League trip to Watford this weekend.
