The Gunners midfielder didn’t feature for the north London side in their 4-3 defeat by title rivals Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Ozil has been enjoying an extended summer break after playing a vital role in Germany’s run to the European championship semi-finals in France.
Gundogan, meanwhile, is still recovering from an injury problem before Ozil’s Germany team-mate can make his first appearance for the Citizens.
And the Die Mannschaft pair enjoyed lunch together with some friends on Thursday afternoon ahead of the second round of Premier League fixtures.
Ozil posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“Good friends. Good food. Good day. #lunch”
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2004 although the Gunners did finish in second place in the table last season.
Ozil is Arsenal’s club-record signing after a £42.5m move to the Emirates Stadium from La Liga giants Real Madrid in 2013.
