The Reds are in fourth place in the Premier League table and three points behind leaders Manchester City having played a game less than Pep Guardiola’s side.
Matip made his Premier League debut in a goalless draw with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in August and Liverpool have won their fourth top-flight games since their trip to north London.
The Cameroon international moved to the Merseyside outfit on a free transfer in the summer after Matip called time on his Bundesliga career with Schalke 04.
The 25-year-old has been impressed with the performances of the Liverpool captain ahead of the visit of United at Anfield on Monday night.
“He does a very good job. He always has the ball and sometimes [on the pitch] I think he is everywhere!” Matip told Liverpool’s website.
“That’s always good, especially for the centre-backs like me because you always know he is there and he will help you. You can always play [the ball] to him and he gives the team a lot of strength and calm. And sometimes he scores, so perfect!”
Liverpool signed seven players in the summer transfer window under Klopp, including £30m arrival Sadio Mane and £25m signing Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Reds are in fourth place in the table and three points ahead of Jose Mourinho’s United side ahead of Monday night’s clash.
