New Arsenal signings: How Mustafi and Xhaka have rated so far

We look at how Arsene Wenger's summer signings have fared at Arsenal so far this season

Granit Xhaka

The Switzerland international has certainly added more bite to the Arsenal side. Granit Xhaka joined Arsenal in a £33m deal from Borussia Monchengladbach in May. Xhaka made his full Gunners debut in goalless draw with reigning champions Leicester City. The 23-year-old has made steady improvements with his promising passing range. Xhaka has also scored two long-range goals, which has certainly thrilled Arsenal supporters. 7.5/10

Rob Holding

Arsene Wenger placed his faith in the 21-year-old in Arsenal’s opening Premier League game of the season. The Gunners lost 4-3 to Liverpool but it was Calum Chambers – not Holding – who was criticised after the defeat. Holding retained his place for the trip to Leicester and the young centre-half acquitted himself well. However, Shkodran Mustafi’s transfer means Holding will be back-up for the rest of the season. 6

Shkodran Mustafi

The Germany international finally completed a much-anticipated move to The Emirates in the last week of the summer transfer window. Shokdran Mustafi looked nervous on his Arsenal debut against Southampton but now seems to be gaining confidence alongside the reassuring figure of Laurent Koscielny. It could be the start of a long-term Arsenal centre-half partnership. However, sterner tests than Southampton, Hull City, Burnley and Chelsea lie in wait for this new-look Arsenal defence. 7

Lucas Perez

Lucas Perez has been limited to one start and handful of substitute appearances since his £17m transfer to Arsenal from La Liga outfit Deportivo La Coruna. However, the uncapped Spanish forward has been unlucky that Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott have hit ruthless form for the north London club. Perez looked sharp as he scored twice in a 4-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. Wenger, though, felt that there was room for improvement – criticising his dependency on his left foot. 5
