Paul Merson is tipping Jordan Henderson to fire Liverpool to victory over Manchester United at Anfield on Monday night.

The Reds head into the game looking to continue their strong start to the new season under Jurgen Klopp as they aim to challenge for the Premier League title.

Henderson has earned plenty of new admirers for his fine performances in midfield since being made Liverpool captain following Steven Gerrard’s Anfield exit.

The midfielder scored a stunning long-range strike in the 2-1 win at Chelsea last month and captained England for their goalless draw with Slovenia last week.

And Merson feels that Henderson could be the man to fire Klopp’s side to glory against their bitter local rivals on Monday night at Anfield.

Writing in his column for The Daily Star, Merson said: “He [Henderson] could even get the winner on Monday night.

“Liverpool are flying going forwards and if they get going they could blow United away.”
