The French striker has been proving himself as a key player in the Gunners’ first team in recent weeks after scoring four goals in as many games for the north London side.
Like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, Giroud currently has 18 months left to run on his current Arsenal deal and there is yet to be an official announcement about his future.
However, the striker has now revealed that he is hoping to extend his stay at The Emirates beyond the summer of 2018.
Giroud told Telefoot, as quoted by The Daily Express: “We’re on the verge of reaching an agreement for an extension.
“It’s also a sign of confidence and I want to continue my adventure here in this Arsenal family, and I feel very good here.
“When I spoke with the manager, he always kept telling me that I’m an important player.
“I know what I’m capable of and it’s just a case of being patient, working hard in training and waiting for your hour to come.”
Giroud will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to Swansea City.
The north London side, who finished second last term, have not won the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.
