Jurgen Klopp is confident that Liverpool will be ready for their trip to Manchester United on Sunday despite the distraction of their clash against Southampton in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final.

The Reds are already contending with a number of issues, with Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Philippe Coutinho all making their way back from injuries ahead of their long journey to the south coast.

Klopp fielded the youngest Liverpool side since 1965 in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon as the Reds were held to a goalless draw with Plymouth.

Liverpool played out a 2-2 draw with Sunderland in their last Premier League game at the Stadium of Light to miss out on the chance to move to within three points of leaders Chelsea in the title race.

However, Klopp is confident that he will have no trouble getting his Liverpool side ready for their bitter clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

“Manchester United is a game like the Everton games, you can pick them out of the season and it’s always a special game,” Klopp told his pre-match media conference at Melwood on Monday afternoon.

“It’s not important when it is, how much the point difference is, it’s a derby and you need to be ready for this. We will be ready but, first of all, we have to play Southampton.”
