Juan Mata is expecting a special game between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Merseyside outfit will make the short trip to their bitter rivals looking to make a swift return to winning ways after a 2-2 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last time out.

Manchester United, on the other hand, have won their last six Premier League games after a 2-0 win against 10-man West Ham United at the London Stadium last week.

Jose Mourinho’s side are in sixth place in the Premier League table and three points adrift of the top four as the Manchester United boss looks to steer the Red Devils back into the Champions League.

Writing in his personal blog One Hour Behind, Manchester United midfielder Mata looked ahead to their upcoming Premier League fixture against Liverpool.

“It’s a special game, there’s no doubt about it. You realise that when you play it for the first time. It’s going to be a great match, a thrilling one, between two teams that are fighting to be as high as possible in the table,” Mata said.

“We have several competitions this month. January (and also February) is a time of the year when all the players of the squad are important to get to our goals at the end of the season.”
