Danny Welbeck has taken to social media to reveal his delight at making his return to action for Arsenal over the weekend.

The Gunners striker came off the bench in the second half against Preston North End at Deepdale as he made his first appearance of the season for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Welbeck had been out of action since the summer after suffering a serious knee injury towards the end of last season, forcing him to embark on a lengthy recovery process.

The England international is now working his way back to full fitness and will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the Arsenal first team in the coming weeks and months.

And the forward used his personal Instagram account to post a rare update on the social network after he returned to action over the weekend.

Welbeck posted the picture above on the app and wrote: “In those dark moments there is always a flicker of light.
