Antonio Conte has admitted that he has been thrilled by “warrior” David Luiz’s attitude at Chelsea this season.

The Brazilian defender has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea first team since his arrival at Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain in a surprise transfer last summer.

Luiz has been one of the Blues’ standout performers and has earned plenty of praise for his solid displays at the back for the Blues this season.

Conte revealed on Friday that the defender has been playing through the pain of a minor knee injury in recent games.

And the Chelsea boss has revealed that he has been delighted by the Brazilian’s commitment to the cause since his return to the west London club in the summer.

Ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Burnley on Sunday, Conte told his pre-match news conference on Friday afternoon: “He’s available.

“For sure he’s playing with a little pain in his knee but he’s a warrior.

“He’s a warrior and he’s playing very well.

“I’m pleased for him and I hope he continues in this way.

“He’s showing a great attitude, a great will to continue to fight despite a bit of pain.”
