Gary Neville claimed that Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Leicester on Sunday has reignited their hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho’s men headed into the game searching for a much-needed win after a run of three draws on the spin in the top flight.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan set the Red Devils on their way towards victory when he coolly slotted home in the 42nd minute after sprinting clear of the Leicester defence.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic made it 2-0 shortly after with a finish from inside the box after being found by Antonio Valencia.

Juan Mata then made it 3-0 in the 49th minute at the King Power Stadium as he finished from Mkhitaryan’s through-ball.

The win left Manchester United in sixth place in the Premier League table but just a point behind Liverpool in fifth.

And Neville feels that the victory can inject some much-needed belief in the Red Devils squad in the coming weeks.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “There was a lot of pressure on United coming into this game, dropping points in midweek.

“But with Arsenal and Liverpool both losing yesterday, it [the win] does give United a chance to get close to the Champions League spots with Watford at home next weekend.”
