Harry Redknapp has laughed off suggestions that N’Golo Kante could be considered as the best player in the Premier League despite his sparkling displays for Chelsea this season.

The French midfielder has earned plenty of praise for his performances for Chelsea since his arrival at Stamford Bridge from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

Kante earned plenty of new admirers for his impressive displays for Leicester last season and has continued his fine form at Chelsea this term.

His solid performances in midfield for the Blues have helped Chelsea move nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

However, Redknapp has dismissed claims that Kante could be considered as the best player in the Premier League.

Speaking to BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Redknapp said: “No, he’s nowhere near the best player in the league.

“As a defensive midfield player, you’d put him in your best 11.

“But if you’re looking for the best player in the league, not for me.”
