Michael Owen reveals what is different about Man United

The former Manchester United striker discusses what is different about Jose Mourinho's side in recent months

Michael Owen believes Manchester United are looking much more dangerous thanks to addition of pace to Jose Mourinho’s side.

The Red Devils were 3-0 winners against Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne at Old Trafford in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 clash on Thursday night.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a hat-trick against the French side to secure a commanding first leg lead ahead of the return leg at Saint-Etienne next week.

However, France international Anthony Martial was one of Mourinho’s star performers on the wing as he proved a constant thorn in the visitors’s side.

English teenager Marcus Rashford added pace upon his introduction as the 20-time English champions continued their excellent form.

Speaking to BT Sport about Manchester United’s recent performances, the club’s former striker Owen said:

“When you’re playing at a club like Manchester United, you’ve got these players [with pace]. Manchester United have lacked this in recent seasons in the Moyes and Van Gaal era. There has been a lack of pace in certain areas.

“Now there is such a variety of different type of players like Martial and Rashford. There is a load of pace in the Manchester United side at the moment.”

Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table ahead of their next clash against Manchester City in the derby at the Etihad Stadium next week.

The Red Devils will face Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup fifth round this weekend.
