Michael Owen believes Manchester United are looking much more dangerous thanks to addition of pace to Jose Mourinho’s side.

The Red Devils were 3-0 winners against Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne at Old Trafford in the first leg of their Europa League last 32 clash on Thursday night.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a hat-trick against the French side to secure a commanding first leg lead ahead of the return leg at Saint-Etienne next week.

However, France international Anthony Martial was one of Mourinho’s star performers on the wing as he proved a constant thorn in the visitors’s side.

English teenager Marcus Rashford added pace upon his introduction as the 20-time English champions continued their excellent form.

Speaking to BT Sport about Manchester United’s recent performances, the club’s former striker Owen said:

“When you’re playing at a club like Manchester United, you’ve got these players [with pace]. Manchester United have lacked this in recent seasons in the Moyes and Van Gaal era. There has been a lack of pace in certain areas.

“Now there is such a variety of different type of players like Martial and Rashford. There is a load of pace in the Manchester United side at the moment.”
