The Dutch defender was recalled to his parent club early after a successful loan spell at Bournemouth in the first half of the season.
Ake has thus far made just one FA Cup appearance for Chelsea since his return but will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team in the coming weeks and months.
However, the youngster admits that his first reaction to receiving the call from Antonio Conte was one of nerves.
Speaking in an interview with The Daily Mail, Ake said: “I had three days off because I wasn’t in Bournemouth’s FA Cup squad. I was in Gran Canaria with my missus and the phone rang. It was the manager saying, “Can you come back?”
“If the manager calls to say you’ve done well and he wants you back then it is good, it’s a positive sign.
“But I felt a bit nervous to be honest. I hadn’t been at Chelsea for a long time. I left two years ago. It felt like a long time and I wasn’t sure how it would be.”
Chelsea are currently gearing up for their crunch clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon as they look to take a step closer towards winning the Premier League title.
The Blues are nine points clear at the top of the table as they bid to get back to winning ways after their 1-1 draw with Liverpool in midweek.
