Rio Ferdinand took to Twitter to hail Zlatan Ibrahimovic after Manchester United striker netted a hat-trick in a 3-0 win against Saint-Etienne on Thursday night.

The 35-year-old broke the deadlock in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 clash thanks to a deflected free-kick as Ibrahimovic fired his attempt under the visitors’s wall.

Ibrahimovic extended the home side’s lead after the break with his 22nd goal of the 2016-17 season in all competitions to put the hosts in command of the European tie.

The 35-year-old netted his 17th goal against Saint-Etienne in the closing moments of the clash after Ibrahimovic’s penalty secured a 3-0 win against the French side.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand couldn’t resist paying tribute to the experienced striker on Twitter after the centre-forward’s hat-trick.
