The Reds had to settle for a point on Tuesday night as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea at Anfield.
That draw left the Jurgen Klopp’s men fourth in the Premier League table and 10 points behind leaders Chelsea in the race for the title.
Former Manchester United defender feels that the Merseyside outfit are in need of some attacking reinforcements in the summer window to help them convert more of their chances.
Speaking to BT Sport after Tuesday night’s draw at Anfield, Ferdinand said: “I think they need that cutting edge still. Sometimes when they’re going forwards, other than Philippe Coutinho the imagination [is lacking] sometimes.
“They need that little bit of devilment in the box and in the final third.”
Liverpool now turn their attentions towards their Premier League clash against Hull City on Saturday as they bid to get back to winning ways in the top flight.
The Reds finished eighth in the table last season following Klopp’s appointment at Anfield in October 2015.
