Steven Gerrard believes one of Chelsea’s only weaknesses is their ability to defend crosses after a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Antonio Conte’s side made the trip to the red half of Merseyside looking to preserve their unbeaten run since a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last month.

Chelsea saw their 13-game winning sequence come to an end at White Hart Lane after Dele Alli scored twice from two identical crosses either side of half-time.

The west London side edged into a first-half lead through David Luiz’s stunning free-kick at Anfield on Tuesday night but the hosts managed to peg the Premier League leaders back in the second half.

Wijnaldum managed to get on the end of James Milner’s deflected cross and guide a close-range header past Belgium and Chelsea number one Thibaut Courtois.

Speaking to BT Sport after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool, Gerrard identified the Blues’s defending from crosses as a weakness in Conte’s otherwise impressive team.

“This Chelsea team have got a lot of strength and a lot going for them moving forward, but they are vulnerable to crosses. We saw it against Tottenham, and saw it again today. Jordan Henderson put two or three wonderful balls in and that’s how I think you can catch this Chelsea defence out,” Gerrard said.
