Steven Gerrard believes that Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Tuesday night proves that the Reds are set to finish in the top four this season.

The Reds came from a goal down to earn a point against Antonio Conte’s men at Anfield on Tuesday as they produced a solid display in front of their home fans.

Liverpool endured a largely disappointing January as they failed to notch up a single Premier League victory to leave their title hopes dented.

The Merseyside outfit are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind leaders Chelsea.

And despite conceding that winning the title may now be out of reach for the Reds, Gerrard feels confident that Liverpool can qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Speaking to BT Sport after Tuesday’s 1-1 draw, Gerrard said: “The most positive thing for them [Liverpool] tonight was that the team is back.

“That was by far Liverpool’s best performance in January by miles. Klopp knows that his team is back and that if they keep playing like that moving forward, they’ll have a very good chance of finishing in the top four.

“The title race is going to be very close now, but it’s certainly a positive point in the race for the top four.”
