Steven Gerrard believes that Antonio Conte’s passion transfers from the touchline to his Chelsea players to give them added energy this season.

The Blues have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the Premier League title this season after building a nine-point lead at the top of the table.

The west London side were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night but still look like the clear favourites to lift the trophy in May.

Chelsea are currently gearing up for their crunch clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime as they bid to continue their title bid.

And Gerrard feels that Conte’s experience and hunger have been to keys to Chelsea’s strong start to the season under their new manager.

Speaking to BT Sport on Tuesday night, Gerrard said: “The manager has the know-how. He’s won leagues in Italy.

“When you watch him on the sidelines, he’s very hungry, and that sends the right message to the team.”
