Arsene Wenger has claimed that Francis Coquelin can be compared to N’Golo Kante because the two midfielder possess similar styles of play.

Kante has been a revelation at Chelsea this season following his summer transfer to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City last year.

The French midfielder helped the Foxes win the title last season and has continued his fine form for the west London side this term.

Wenger brought Granit Xhaka to Arsenal last summer as Chelsea opted to make a big-money transfer bid to sign Kante from Leicester.

The Arsenal boss says Xhaka and Kante have different styles but has suggested that Coquelin is in a similar mould to the Chelsea midfielder.

Wenger is quoted as saying by Metro: “Xhaka is more about distribution of the pass and Kante is more the ball winner, with the real technique to steal the ball without making the foul,’ Wenger said.

“You should compare Kante more with Coquelin than with Xhaka. Xhaka is more a distribution player.”

Arsenal are currently preparing for their Premier League clash with West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday lunchtime as they bid to get their top-four challenge back on track.
