Looking for the best vegan protein powder can be difficult.

Whether you have been put off traditional protein powder types such as whey, or if you are a vegan looking to build extra muscle and get lean, there are quite a few options on the market nowadays.

As well as being dairy and lactose-free, there are lots of other benefits to using vegan protein powders instead of the traditional alternatives.

Although we don’t have any studies to back this up, we have a sneaking suspicion that vegan protein powders will soon be proven as better for you in the long run than whey protein powder.

We’re always on the lookout for new and affordable products to help us achieve our fitness goals and get our bodies ready for the summer, and that’s why Bulk Powders Complete Vegan Blend caught our eye.

Here, we’re going to run you through our experience of trying Bulk Powders Complete Vegan Blend to assess whether this vegan supplement is something you should consider adding to your fitness regime.

Why you should consider vegan protein powder

Before we get into the review of Bulk Powders Complete Vegan Blend, let’s touch on a few of the benefits of taking a vegan protein powder ahead of other types of supplement.

Whether or not you are a vegan, there are certain benefits to taking a vegan supplement. The first is that they usually do not contain lactose or dairy products, which can help make them easier to digest even in healthy people.

The sources of protein in vegan products vary, but they usually come from the likes of hemp, pea and brown rice. Whether you’re a vegan or not, there is something reassuring about knowing that the protein you’re consuming is coming from natural plants.

The basics

We were first drawn to Bulk Powders Complete Vegan Blend product because of the very affordable price tag.

If you take a look around at some of the more popular vegan protein blends out there at the moment, you’ll notice that they are typically more expensive than their whey equivalents.

Bulk Powders Complete Vegan Blend is £39.99 for a 2.5kg bag, or £74.99 for a 5kg bag.

Bulk Powders offer free UK delivery on all orders over £49, so it may be worth going for the 5kg bag, which works out at around 142 servings at just 53p each.

Currently, the product is available in chocolate peanut or strawberry flavour, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see this list added to in the future.

The ingredients

The first thing I look for when selecting a good vegan protein powder is which sources of protein are being used.

Bulk Powders’ product contains a blend of pea protein, brown rice protein and quinoa flour.

The powder is also soya free and contains no artificial sweeteners or colourings, which is actually pretty rare these days.

So far, so good.

Each 35g serving contains almost 22 grams of protein and 7 grams of carbs.

The thing I like about this product is the fact that the protein sources are clearly stated.

I checked the label and Bulk Powders Complete Vegan Blend is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and it’s also gluten-free.

Each serving also contains just 0.46 grams of sugar, which is great, as so many “great tasting” products these days are packed with sweeteners and sugar.

This product uses Stevia as a natural sweetener, which is a great healthy alternative.

Each serving also contains 40mg of the popular digestive enzyme complex, DigeZyme®, to help you absorb the protein more efficiently.

The taste

We tried the chocolate peanut flavour and enjoyed it.

There’s nothing worse than dreading having to down your shake after the gym because of the taste, but we enjoyed this product a lot.

It also mixes extremely well, which is often a complaint about some of the other products on the market these days.

We mixed it with almond milk and water and found that it tasted great with both.

What other people are saying about it

As always, we did some digging into the corners of the interest to try to unearth what other people are saying about Bulk Powders Complete Vegan Blend.

Generally, it had pretty good feedback, although people seemed to much prefer the chocolate peanut flavour to the strawberry, so we’d recommend giving that one a try first.

Reviewer Hannah wrote directly on the Bulk Powders website: “Vegan protein is disgusting lets face it… I’ve tried other brands and even half a scoop is too much as it overpowers my shake and ruins any taste! This one you can actually taste the flavour! So much better!”

Reviewer ADTT explained their reasons for trying the product: “I’m not a vegan but looking for an alternative source of protein. After trying different brands of vegan protein powders, most of them ending up in the trash, I was really surprised that I could enjoy both of the flavours. The strawberry is a little better for my taste. I’m also pleased to see they use stevia instead of artificial sweeteners. Five stars for me and will definitely buy again.”

And product user Rick also wrote on the website: “Fantastic product. Been trying vegan protein with no luck. Tried the two flavours but for me chocolate peanut is the best. More flavours would be fantastic.”

Quick overview

The benefits:

– The price – Very good value indeed for a vegan protein powder blend.

– The taste – I looked forward to drinking the chocolate peanut flavour.

– Mixes well – Simply stir in and enjoy.

– Low sugar content – Just 0.46 grams of sugar per serving.

The drawbacks:

– Mixed reviews on strawberry flavour – This flavour seems to be the least popular amongst reviewers. We’d advise starting with the chocolate peanut.

– Limited flavours – While we were fans of the chocolate peanut flavor, it would be nice to have some of the classics available, such as vanilla or standard chocolate.

The best deal

Compared to the other products out there, Bulk Powders Complete Vegan Blend is very good value for money, and the best deal is the 5kg bag (142 servings) at £74.99, which works out at around 53p per serving. There are also 2.5kg (£39.99) and 1kg (£19.99) bags.

UK delivery is free on all orders more than £49 from the Bulk Powders website.

The brand

Bulk Powders is a British company and founded in 2005. They underwent a large brand transformation to adapt themselves for the growing online demand for products back in 2013 and have a reputation for offering some of the best prices in the health and fitness sector.

They sell directly to consumers like you and me, and manufacture their products themselves, meaning they can offer lower prices than some of their competitors.

Review conclusion – our final thoughts

We really like this product, especially the low price-tag and the quality ingredients.

Bulk Powders Complete Vegan Blend is a great option for anyone looking to boost their protein intake in a natural and healthy way and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
