Antonio Conte has praised Eden Hazard’s strength of character following the Belgian’s strong start to the season under his new manager.

Hazard, like many of his Chelsea team-mates, struggled to produce consistent performances last season as the Blues ended up 10th in the Premier League table and without a trophy.

However, the playmaker has been in fine form so far this term and has earned plenty of praise for his performances for the west London side to help them top the table.

“Eden is showing great football but also great character and great personality in every game,” Conte told a news conference, speaking ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.

“He’s growing a lot in this aspect. For him it’s fantastic, and also for the team.”

Conte also admitted that Hazard has been showing him a great strength of character this season, after often being targeted by opposition players.

He continued: “Hazard is a type of player that is very difficult to stop. People try to stop him in a good and bad way, but I’m not worried about this.

“Eden is very strong physically, and he has showed me he is able to play in this league, which is very strong physically. He is not tall, but he is strong!”
