Jamie Carragher has admitted that he has been completely surprised by Victor Moses’ impressive form for Chelsea under Antonio Conte this season.

The Nigerian international has been given a new lease of life under Conte this term after struggling to break into the Chelsea team in previous campaigns.

Moses has made the wing-back role his own at Chelsea and has been a regular fixture in the Blues’ first team this term.

The winger has been rewarded for his fine form with a new and improved contract at Chelsea this season.

And former Liverpool defender Carragher has admitted that he has been shocked by how much Moses has improved – and says Conte deserves credit for restoring faith in the player.

Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Carragher said: “Another thing you want a manager to do is improve players — and look at Victor Moses.

“I never expected him to have a future at Chelsea, given he had been out on loan so much, and the levels he has shown have taken me by complete surprise. He has been excellent in his new role of right wing back.”
