Jamie Carragher has insisted that N’Golo Kante is the only man who should win the PFA player of the year award this season.

The French midfielder has been in sublime form for Chelsea so far this season after joining the west London club from Leicester City last summer.

Kante earned plenty of praise for his performances for Leicester last season as he inspired the Foxes to the Premier League title.

The midfielder has continued his fine displays for Chelsea this season to help Antonio Conte’s men establish themselves as the firm favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

Carragher says Kante is the obvious pick to win the PFA player of the year award this season but the former Liverpool defender has also been very impressed by the likes of David Luiz and Marcos Alonso, who also joined Chelsea last summer.

Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Carragher said: “Every question that has been asked of him, Conte has responded positively.

“His three big signings have all become mainstays in the team: Kante has been remarkable and should win the PFA Player of the Year, Alonso is vital to making the 3-4-3 formation work — that system shows Conte’s tactical acumen — and Luiz has been outstanding.”
