Jose Mourinho believes that his Manchester United side have left themselves with a good shot of finishing in the top four this season after their 3-1 win over Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Goals from Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and Antonio Valencia wrapped up the three points for the Red Devils as they moved up to fifth place in the Premier League table.

Manchester United still trail fourth-placed Liverpool by four points but have two games in hand on the Reds as they look to secure Champions League qualification in Mourinho’s first season in charge.

The Red Devils could also qualify for Europe’s elite club competition by winning the Europa League this season after they reached the quarter-finals last week.

And Mourinho seems to be feeling confident about Manchester United’s chances of qualifying for the competition.

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Sunday, Mourinho said: “We have two doors open for Champions League football

“So we will try for the Europa League and for fourth place in the Premier League, and see what happens.

“The good thing is that the group is really United.
