Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is planning to stay at Manchester United for a minimum of three years as he bids to bring success back to Old Trafford.

The Portuguese coach lifted his first major trophy as Red Devils boss this season as he watched his Manchester United side beat Southampton to win the EFL Cup at Wembley.

Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United back into the top four of the Premier League after his appointment as the club’s new manager last summer.

The Red Devils are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table as they prepare to take on Middlesbrough in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.

Mourinho signed a three-year deal with Manchester United last summer and the Red Devils boss has made it clear that he wants to stay at Old Trafford for at least that long.

The Red Devils boss told Portuguese TV station SIC: “[A minimum of] Three years, I think I will be here, I think the club understood the necessity to give stability to all levels.

“I believe if we do that, even without a massive success, which is harder in football, even more so in England, but with some type of success, I see myself staying here if they want me to stay.

“I’m not a type of person to be at a club 10, 15 years, without real success. I need to have true success, my life is like that, I need that pride and happiness.
