Rio Ferdinand has admitted that no team looks like catching Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title this season.

The Blues underlined their status as the heavy favourites to win the top-flight title this season with a dramatic 2-1 win over Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

That win kept Chelsea flying high at the top of the table as they look to win the title in Antonio Conte’s first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have enjoyed a dramatic turnaround in form following Conte’s appointment at Stamford Bridge last summer after their disastrous campaign last term.

And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand cannot see any team catching Chelsea in the race for the title this term.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Ferdinand said: “These boys are running away with it.

“There’s no one consistent enough to stay with them in the league.

“They’ve found a way of playing, a formula, an understanding of the manager’s ideas.

“I think he [Conte] has to take huge credit, the season before… terrible season, so far off the pace.

“He’s come in and, based on repetition, built an understanding of how he wants the team to play and the players are really putting it in, he’s run away with the league this year.”
