Mark Lawrenson is tipping Chelsea to take another step towards winning the Premier League title on Saturday by beating Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

The Blues are currently the heavy favourites to win the top-flight title this term after becoming the the Premier League’s top-performing team under new boss Antonio Conte.

Conte has watched his Chelsea side build a 10-point lead at the top of the Premier League table as they bid to win the title in the Italian’s first season at the club.

Chelsea’s dramatic upturn in form this season has been in stark contrast to their struggles last term, when they ended up 10th and without a trophy.

The Blues head into the game fresh from having booked their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Manchester United on Monday night.

And Lawrenson is backing the Blues to have too much for the Potters at The Britannia on Saturday afternoon.

“Stoke showed with their 0-0 draw at Manchester City in their last game that they are capable of digging in against the top teams, but I don’t see them holding out against Chelsea,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

“This is another hurdle for the Blues in their title bid, but I think it is one they will clear comfortably.

“Whatever Stoke can throw at Chelsea, I think they will deal with it. There is nothing remotely fragile about Antonio Conte’s team at all.”
