Shaun Wright-Phillips has claimed that it is the perfect time for Manchester City to play Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend.

The Gunners are preparing to take on the Citizens at Wembley on Sunday as Arsene Wenger’s men look to rescue a difficult season by winning a trophy.

Arsenal have been in stuttering form since the turn of the year and are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table after winning just four of their last 10 games.

The north London side did return to winning ways on Monday night with a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in the Premier League.

Manchester City, meanwhile, are fourth in the table after their 3-0 win at Southampton last weekend.

And Wright-Phillips believes that it is a great time for Pep Guardiola’s men to be taking on the Gunners.

He told 888sport: “This is the perfect time for City to play Arsenal. We saw them at the weekend change their system to one they’re not familiar with so that could be favourable to the Blues.

“It’s hard for Arsenal to go through this because it’s not something they’re used to.

“They’ve dealt with it well though and they will always create chances because of the type of players that they have.”
