Paul Merson is backing Liverpool to edge to an entertaining victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds are looking to cement their place in the Premier League’s top four as Arsenal and Manchester United put their rivals under pressure in the chasing pack.

Liverpool have managed to record back-to-back victories on the road after a 2-1 win at Stoke City and a 1-0 triumph over West Bromwich Albion.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in third place in the Premier League table and six points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United.

Palace were 2-1 winners at Premier League leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this month thanks to goals from Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha.

Writing in his Sky Sports column about Liverpool’s home clash against Palace at Anfield, Merson backed the Merseyside outfit to ease to a 3-2 win.

“Palace will take the game to Liverpool and they have the weapons on the break to make this very interesting.

“If they play to his strengths, Christian Benteke could be a handful and Wilfried Zaha has looked in the mood since the turn of the year.
