The Reds enjoyed a successful campaign last term as Klopp managed to steer the Merseyside outfit into the top four in the Premier League and secure their return to the Champions League for next season.
Liverpool will be hoping to mount a serious title challenge next season as the German manager gears up for his second full season in charge at the club.
The Merseyside outfit will be expected to significantly strengthen in the summer transfer window as Klopp aims to build a team capable of fighting on four fronts next term.
However, despite all of the transfer speculation, Liverpool have thus far only brought in young striker Dominic Solanke from Chelsea.
Gerrard is clearly optimistic about the future at Anfield and feels that the Reds only need a few quality additions this summer to become a real force next season.
“I think we’ve got a fantastic manager at the helm, who will hopefully attract a few big names to complete the jigsaw,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“I think Liverpool are very, very close and if you look at the statistics of the top six from last season they were the best team in terms of head-to-head.
“So Liverpool know where they need to improve and it’s consistency against the teams in the bottom half of the table – the teams that sit narrow, compact and are difficult to break down.
“Hopefully we can get the two or three big pieces of the jigsaw that are missing and I’m really confident that Liverpool can keep moving forward and there will be success just around the corner.”
Liverpool pipped Arsenal to a fourth-placed finish last season as they ended up a point ahead of the fifth-placed Gunners.
