The west London side confirmed on Wednesday that they had agreed a fee with Real Madrid to bring the 24-year-old forward to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The move comes after Manchester United were heavily linked with a move to sign the striker throughout the summer, before the Red Devils ended up recruiting Romelu Lukaku from Everton.
Mourinho was clearly interested in bringing Morata to Chelsea this summer after having worked with the Spain international during his time in charge at Real Madrid.
And the Manchester United boss has confirmed that he feels the Blues’ move to sign Morata will prove to be a good one.
Speaking at a news conference in LA on Wednesday night, Mourinho said: “They [Chelsea] did it with Alvaro, and Alvaro is a very good player for them.”
Manchester United have signed two players so far this summer – striker Lukaku from Everton and defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica – as Mourinho prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.
